Driver Training

Many people join a 4WD club in order to obtain training in the better use of their vehicle and better understanding of its capabilities. The Gawler & District 4WD Club provides both informal and formally structured training programs.

Formal training is by way of a series of programs provided by Four Wheel Drive South Australia (FWDSA)) and affiliated clubs.

Several levels of training are available, from the basic through to advanced techniques. Participants can choose the level that suits them and progress at their own pace. In addition, programs are also available for those who elect to become accredited Trainers and can then pass on their experience to other members within the Club.

A training manual and checklist is available from FWDSA for a cost of $25  The costs associated with training are property access fees and a small contribution to the trainers cost of fuel and accomodation.

Driver Training Program

The FWDSA training program consists of:

  • Basic Theory - a two day course conducted at the Sporting Car Club, 51 King William Road, Unley
  • Basic Uphill / Downhill - a two day practical event held at Morgan
  • Basic Sand - a two day course conducted at Peake
